DESIGN INTRODUCTION

 

Chicago has been renamed “Immanuel’s Gate.” Jesus Christ has come into Chicago to reform His Church so we become a City on a Hill and an earthly expression of the Heavenly Jerusalem. He wants His Bride to make her-self ready as the City of the Living God. He wants His Church to demonstrate God’s Kingdom as a fully-functioning community that is comprised of reconciled believers living under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and is characterized by righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. He wants our fellowship to be the holistic fellowship that it was in the Book of Acts and throughout the early centuries of church history. He wants us to become – and live in – a fully-functioning Kingdom church community which has familial, local, regional, national, and global dimensions.

 

Chicago is meant by God to be a flashpoint for this word and work of reformation. Wherever the Church is in reformation, God’s grace will come, and communities will experience transformation. Wherever communities are in transformation, cities will be realigned. As cities are realigned, the purposes of God will be restored to our nation. We will fulfill the heavenly and historical mandate to be a “City on a Hill” that functions as a “habitation for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

 

We are now one year into a Day of the LORD for this God-ordained purpose for our city and His church that is located here. This Day of the LORD is one of salvation and blessing for those who receive Christ and are fully engaged in the word and work of God to reform the church. It is also a day of judgment for the systems, structures and individuals that resist or reject what He has come to do.

 

Jesus Christ has brought into Chicago everything necessary for His work to be successful. He has established a throne over the city and the region. He has supplied us with blueprints that must be understood and utilized. He has released the River of the Holy Spirit to break through every barrier, and bring new life to every desert place. He is accompanied by an army of angels to fight on His behalf and on ours. He has given His work a name: “Nu-Church Movement”. This is a name – and an effort – that overcomes the new age and humanistic design of the false “New Church” which was released by Daniel Burnham in His failed Chicago Plan. Burnham’s first “Plan of Chicago” was initiated one hundred years ago. It provided a contrary spiritual foundation and infrastructure for the fellowship of this city. It was through this plan that the enemy sought to preempt and prevent the move of God. Nu-Church Movement is the “nu” name given by the LORD to say that His plan will prevail. This name presides over the current redesign of the city of Chicago which is required by the Father and now undertaken by the LORD Jesus Christ. This redesign is according to the blueprints of Heaven and is based on God’s eternal purpose. It provides the foundation and fellowship infrastructure necessary to fulfill God’s intentions for our city and our nation. It begins with – and is contingent on – the Reformation of the Church as the City of the Living God.

 

As we enter more fully into this work, please understand that there has been much prayer and many heavenly encounters. We need more and more of Heaven as we accompany the LORD Jesus Christ in the Word and Word of Reformation that He has come to fulfill. At the same time, we need to be very practical in our faith-response to His Word. We must become doers of the Word of Reformation and doers of the Work of Reformation. To that end, we are extending this “Request for Designs” to members of the Body of Christ. In time we will convene “revelatory prayer and think tanks” to work out specific details regarding the implementation of systems and structures needed for a fully-functioning Kingdom church community that is local and regional in scope.  In addition to operational details, designs should also include approximate budgets and funding plans that leverage the “in-kind” fellowship of the Kingdom church communities and that utilize both giving and investment dollars.

 

We are asking for Kingdom-minded people and groups to be engaged in the process of developing and helping to implement designs in the following areas.

 

1. Worship and Prayer (receives Jesus Christ and the work He has come to fulfill)

 

1. Fellowship (holistic, multi-dimensional, multi-faceted)

 

1. Education (discipleship oriented, Kingdom focused)

 

1. Economics (anchored in fellowship, advancing Kingdom purpose)

 

1. Real Estate (acquisition, ownership, use, development)

 

1. Brotherly and Neighborly Care (love one another, love your neighbor)

 

1. Communication (facilitating organization and mobilization)

 

1. Liberation and Occupation of Community Areas (Acts: Jerusalem, Corinth, Ephesus models)

 

1. Community and Cultural Impact (local community transformation, national restoration)

 

1. Governance (fivefold and civic, including elders and deacons)

 

As you engage this word and work, please keep these things in mind. First of all, Biblical fellowship is multi-faceted. A close study of fellowship of both the Old and New Testaments reveals that effective fellowship includes every aspect of community. Secondly, the Bride of Christ is a City (Revelation 21:9-10, Hebrews 12:22). Thirdly, the marriage supper of the Lamb will occur only after the Bride has made herself ready (Revelation 19:7). Fourthly, the day will come when the Church is required by the LORD to “come out of Babylon” with the capacity to survive apart from the systems and structures of the world (Revelation 18:4). Finally, an important end-time scenario is the “mountain of the LORD’s house rising to the top of the mountains” of the world’s system, and the law of the LORD being extended from Zion to realign nations around the fellowship of the Kingdom (Isaiah 2:1-4, Isaiah 60).

 

In recent years, much has been revealed about God’s Kingdom, the scope of fellowship, and the role of the church in demonstrating the Kingdom of God and carrying Christ’s ministry and authority to the ends of the world. The following parameters and specifications establish guidelines to ensure that the work we do is compatible with the purposes of Heaven; that it brings us into the practical reality of what it means to be one in Christ; that it is has the capacity to liberate and occupy territories in the name of the LORD Jesus, and that the end result is a fully-functioning Kingdom church community that is expandable and duplicable in the region, the nation and the world.
